Mobility from Bosch
Mobility has many aspects: Today, safe and comfortable driving is as important as eco-friendly technology that provides maximum driving enjoyment. Bosch is mobility's driving force – and provides many different automotive innovations to ensure your journey is better in every way.

Safety and comfort

Safety and comfort

Bosch provides the innovations that set the standards now and in the future. As a systems supplier for automotive manufacturers, Bosch provides the perfect combination of safety and comfort, environmental responsibility and driving enjoyment.

Safety first
The highest priority for Bosch developers is the safety of everyone on the road. In recent years, solutions such as ABS und ESP® have reduced accident figures – and it is our aim to reduce them further with new solutions.

Intelligent technology for greater safety
Bosch has established a safety standard for all vehicle classes with ESP®. Anyone who has driven too fast round a corner or experienced skidding on a slippery surface knows how valuable the system is.

Bosch developers are now working on predictive safety systems. They improve driver awareness, warn of dangerous situations – and even intervene autonomously in an emergency.

For instance, Predictive Safety Systems (PSS) prepare the brake system for a possible emergency stop and thereby save valuable hundredths of a second.

Another extension of the system will warn drivers of dangerous situations. In future, we will develop the system further so it can make an automatic emergency stop if a collision is no longer avoidable.

Safety is considerably improved by networking components – in this case the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) radar sensor and brake system. In future, such networking with the CAPS (Combined Active and Passive Safety) program will be extended to achieve maximum safety.

Comfortable on the road
Greater comfort makes driving more enjoyable. It is important since drivers spend a great deal of time in their cars. Greater comfort also improves safety. Relaxed and stress-free drivers are more alert, and that reduces the risk of accidents.

A good ergonomic seat and an agreeable, stable climate in the car make it easier to cope with long distance driving. Navigation systems also keep an eye on traffic congestion to suggest alternative routes.

The right distance - automatically
Adaptive Cruise Control relieves the driver of routine tasks during a journey.  It controls the vehicle's speed to ensure the car maintains a defined distance from the vehicle ahead. The car drives with the traffic flow. Today, the system ensures the right distance at speeds from 30 km/h on major roads and motorways. In future, it will also be able to do the same job at lower speeds, for instance in stop-and-go traffic.

Perfect parking
A Bosch parking aid is a valuable support for many drivers when parking and maneuvering, providing information on the car's distance from obstacles even in places the driver cannot see. Bosch is already working on a progressive extension of its parking aid. In future, it will help drivers park by measuring the space and calculating the right steering maneuver. While the driver still controls the steering wheel with this system, a future development even takes over the steering itself, turning a parking aid into a semi-autonomous parking assistant.

Driving enjoyment and environmental responsibility – not a contradiction

Driving enjoyment and environmental responsibility – not a contradiction

Some drivers may think a sporty driving style and environmental conscience are incompatible. Bosch technology makes sure they are. Diesel and gasoline engines using innovative Bosch injection systems provide significantly more dynamism, while reducing fuel consumption and emissions. Whether in the city or on the freeway: Drivers immediately feel the dynamism. They also notice the low consumption the next time they stop at a gas station. And the reduced pollution is good news for us all.

Economic, clean, sporting: Diesel
Diesel engines are in greater demand than ever before: More than 50 percent of all cars registered in western Europe run on diesel. The Common Rail and Unit Injector (or Unit Pump) systems from Bosch have been a major factor in its success. They inject diesel fuel into the cylinders with great precision and at very high pressure. The result is exceptional dynamism, but also low emissions, noise and fuel consumption.

Gasoline cars: Acceleration or high revs?
Bosch engineers can do both with the new gasoline direct injection turbo drive systems. The innovative drive concept impresses through its direct actuation when stepping on the gas pedal, high acceleration and powerful induction even at low speeds. Engineers also had the environment in mind: It is possible to use the power of gasoline direct injection to reduce engine size while maintaining the same performance. A direct injection engine with a turbo charger and 33% lower capacity means 15% lower fuel consumption and emissions than an equally powerful induction engine.

Mobility comes from Bosch
Bosch has contributed a lot  to making mobility more than getting from A to B. But continuing developments will provide even better safety and comfort in future. For impressive dynamism and driving enjoyment. And for sustainable environmental protection. We constantly redefine personal mobility for each individual in this way.
