Singapore – Bosch, a leading global supplier of technology and services, today announced a partnership with the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) to set up the ITE - Bosch Power Tools Training Centre at the ITE College East. The partnership aims to enhance ITE’s mechanical engineering courses using Bosch power tools.

“Since entering Southeast Asia, Bosch is committed in the long run in helping the region grow with our technology and services, and contributing to the well-being of local communities. This extends to education as well,” says Martin Hayes, President of Bosch Southeast Asia. “Through this partnership with ITE, we hope that students will be able to develop their fullest potential by succeeding in their education, realizing their career aspiration and in turn, be the driving forces in making a difference to the community and the country”.

“With rapid technology advancements, it has become more important for engineers to be well equipped with industry relevant knowledge and skills of the future. At ITE, we work closely with industry partners to create industry-relevant learning opportunities for our staff and students. This partnership with Bosch reinforces our efforts to develop job-ready graduates with the capabilities to contribute effectively in a technology-driven economy,” said Dr. Yek Tiew Ming, Principal of ITE College East.

As part of this partnership, Bosch will be sponsoring a range of power tools and measuring tools that students and staff can use for coursework, as well as provide technical advice and assistance for the tools. Bosch will also be facilitating visits to its local and overseas manufacturing facilities and affiliated technical institutions for ITE students and staff. Each year, the top two students from the mechanical engineering course will be awarded book prizes.

Together with its partners, Bosch will participate in ITE career fair and related event to offer job opportunities to ITE graduates.

This partnership also opens doors for further collaboration on projects that will enhance both Bosch and ITE’s technical competencies. Bosch will provide power tools and safety trainings to ITE staff on a regular basis.

Bosch’s commitment to the Southeast Asia region has been reflected in its focus on education. With apprenticeship programs in Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand and Cambodia, Bosch provides learning tools, scholarships, and develops curriculums with vocational institutes and tertiary institutions to raise the education standards and skills of students and the local workforce across Southeast Asia.
